On the afternoon of January 23, Yellow River Conservancy Technical University (YRCTU) held a promotion meeting for the South African Government-Sponsored Full Scholarship Program for Studies in China in the first conference room of the Administration Building. Vice Presidents Jian Haoran and Zhu Huanli attended the meeting. Heads of relevant functional departments and teaching units also participated.
Ji Yao, Director of the Liaison and Cooperation Department, introduced the implementation background of the program. He provided a detailed explanation of the program’s overall requirements, division of responsibilities, and implementation steps. Heads of relevant functional departments and teaching units each reported on the progress of the program, existing problems, and next-step work plans.
Zhu Huanli emphasized that the program is a key international education initiative for YRCTU in 2026. He stated that all departments and units should enhance their sense of responsibility and mission, and advance the program implementation with a strong overall awareness. Relevant teaching units should focus on core tasks, accurately align with South Africa’s demand for technical and skilled personnel, and make full preparations in advance. This will ensure that the talent cultivation process starts steadily, meets high standards, and achieves solid results.
Jian Haoran pointed out that the program serves as an important vehicle for implementing the consensus between China and South Africa on strengthening joint training of skilled personnel. He noted that the program holds great significance for YRCTU’s international education. He put forward three requirements for the program’s implementation. First, all relevant departments shall be more proactive, take the initiative, and conduct adaptability research aligned with South Africa’s talent cultivation needs, thereby improving the relevance and effectiveness of talent training. Second, all relevant departments shall enhance mutual collaboration, adopt a “university as one team” mindset, and actively coordinate with each other to ensure smooth connections among all tasks and solid progress toward tangible results. Third, all relevant departments shall adhere to high-quality development by aligning with high standards in faculty teams, education and teaching, and management services. They shall deliver a satisfactory outcome to the Department of Higher Education and Training of South Africa, and make the program a benchmark for China-South Africa educational cooperation.
